Socceroos WC qualifier peaks at 2.06 million

More than 1.53 million people watched the Socceroos qualify for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia with a comfortable 3-1 win in Sydney last night. This included 1.16 million metropolitan viewers and a peak audience of 2.06 million, winning all demos across all capital cities except Perth. It was also the most live streamed event ever on 9Now with 82,678 live streams. Aston Villa midfielder Mile Jedinak was the star of the show, putting Australia ahead with a heavily-deflected free kick and converting two penaties in a match that Australia controlled from start to finish.

ME Bank promotes Ingrid Purcell to chief experience officer
Industry super fund-owned bank ME has appointed Ingrid Purcell as its new chief experience officer. She will be responsible for the bank’s brand, customer insights, marketing, communications and digital functions. Purcell has been with ME since March 2014, when she joined as brand and digital director. SInce May this year she has been acting group executive of people experience. Her background is in creative agencies with stints at MRM Meteorite, Publicis Chemistry and Lavender under her belt.

Kyle & Jackie O give away a gay weddings to every caller

To celebrate the historic Yes vote in the same sex marriage postal survey, Kiis hosts Kyle and Jackie O have pledges to give every caller on air this morning a free wedding. The You get a gay wedding  “giveaway bonanza” will see the show take care of all the details of the weddings, covering the costs of the venue, flowers, celebrant, wedding bands, food and drinks at the reception. It’s part of their series of ‘You get a…’ on-air promotions. It partnered with Gardens on forest by HostCo, Dracakis Jewellers, and Simple Ceremonies. 

Spinach appointed as lead creative on Bushman Insect Repellent

Melbourne independent agency Spinach has been appointed by Bushman Insect Repellent as the brand ventures into supermarkets for the first time and prepares a strong TV push over summer. Bushman Insect Repellent has been around since 1990 but plans to open the brand up to a wider audience in coming months.

Multicultural Marketing Awards finalists 2017 announced

The Multicultural Marketing Awards finalists for 2017 have been announced. Finalists demonstrated exceptional advertising and multicultural marketing campaigns, which promoted cultural diversity across Australia’s corporate, community and public sectors. Minister for Multiculturalism Ray Williams says: “With diversity being one of our State’s major assets, multicultural marketing is no longer optional, it’s a must. No brand or business should risk ignoring our multicultural identity.” Winners will be announced at a national gala ceremony at the Sydney Opera House later this month.
