Starcom promotes senior managers

Starcom Melbourne has promoted Peter Toone to managing director. Toone was previously general manager, a role that will now be filled by Naomi Johnston. Penny Shell has also been promoted to head of strategy and solutions. She was previously a business director.

Sneddon departs MediaCom 

MediaCom Sydney MD James Sneddon is to exit the agency in June "to pursue other opportunities". He has been with MediaCom since 2010 and took on the MD role in September last year.

Sean Seamer, CEO MediaCom ANZ, will now oversee the Sydney operation supported by recently appointed national managing director of client service Nicole Boyd. Boyd will focus on Sydney clients during the handover period while a replacement is recruited. 

Fairfax revamps Essential Baby

Fairfax has relaunched its parenting site, Essential Baby, featuring an adaptive design for a better user experience across all devices, a refreshed logo, as well as new sections to support mums. The Essential Baby site reaches 530,000 Australians across desktop, smartphone and tablet each month. The website audience spends an average of 29 minutes on the site per visit.

Cars drive DAB+ listening

Digital radio has seen a boost in listener numbers in the past year, thanks to an increase in new cars fitted with a DAB+ radio. Uptake of digital radio has reached 25.3% of the population in metropolitan capital cities according to data from Commercial Radio Australia (CRA), with more than 307,500 DAB+ compatible cars sold in 2015, up from 98,4000 the prior year.
