Claire Askew named Cosmopolitan editor

Bauer Media hasannounced the promotion of Claire Askew to editor of Cosmopolitan, following former editor-in-chief Browyn McCahon's exit in February. Askew has been deputy editor of Cosmo for more than two years. She was also deputy editor of the UK edition and has held senior editorial roles on Woman’s Day and Cleo.

Peter Hearl to join Telstra board

The Telstra Board today announced the appointment of Peter Hearl, 63, as a non-executive director. Hearl, a former chief operating officer of global consumer group Yum! Brands and global president of Pizza Hut, is also a non-executive director of Goodman Fielder and Treasury Wine Estates in Australia. He also previously worked for PepsiCo Inc from 1991 to 1997 in Hong Kong, London and Sydney.

Vogue partners with American Express for Vogue Fashion’s Night Out

Vogue Australia editor-in-chief Edwina McCann today announced a partnership with American Express to be the naming rights partner for Australia’s biggest annual retail event, Vogue Fashion’s Night Out 2016.

UnLtd calls for charity board members

UnLtd wants to place a senior industry person on the board of each of its growth charity partners. UnLtd CEO Steve Taitoko, said the foundation had identified that a number of charities are in need of board representation with public relations, brand strategy and sales expertise.

Whybin\TBWA Sydney appoints operations head

Whybin\TBWA Sydney has appointed Chloe Gilchrist to join its leadership team as head of operations. Gilchrist joins from J Walter Thompson Sydney where she had been operations director for three years. Her new role will see her responsible for end to end delivery across the business.

Qantas, Avis, Toyota, ANZ, KMart, The Good Guys, HCF, ANZ, Virgin Mobile, Suncorp, LJ Hooker, Subway, Aldi and Uber have all been awarded a gold star for customer service during 2015-16 by Reader's Digest.

Australia's first Lego store opens at Dreamworld

Australia's first Lego certified store will open at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast, following a new partnership with between the brand and Dreamworld-owner Ardent Leisure. Construction of the stop will begin in July with an expected open date of November 2016. Ardent Leisure CEO Deborah Thomas says the project will be entirely funded by Ardent.

Clemenger appoints from GPY&R for Brisbane MD

Clemenger has appointed former MD of GPY&R Brisbane Rob Hudson to lead its Brisbane office as MD.

Hudson replaces outgoing MD Vanessa Brennan who is taking a partnership role with PwC in Brisbane. He will lead the office alongside ECD's Cristian Staal and Marianne Harvey.

Hudson was appointed to the top role at GPY&R in Feburary this year, filling the vacancy left by Phil McDonald, who was appointed to the Y&R CEO role for the entire ANZ region.
