Airbnb appoints 'rockstar' head of marketing for Australia

Airbnb has appointed its first head of marketing to lead activity in the local market, naming Ben Hallam, former account director at Ogilvy & Mather, as its brand marketing lead. He will lead Airbnb's marketing strategy as it enters its next phase of growth.

MullenLowe Profero shifts towards CX and appoints new MD

MullenLowe Profero is shifting its business towards customer experience and has promoted Chris Henderson to managing director to replace Dave Bentley who is stepping down from the role. Bentley, who has led the agency for eight years, is understood to be spending time with his young family before taking on another venture. Henderson was formerly client services director at the agency. Read more here.

Ikon’s Bryan Magee named as Posterscope boss

Posterscope has named Ikon’s chief investment officer of strategy Bryan Magee as its national MD, AdNews can reveal. The outdoor specialist media agency's top spot has been open since August when Joe Copley stepped down.The agency has also appointed David Campbell, former Vizeum Melbourne GM, as national general manager. Read more here.

Initiative Australia names chief strategy officer and Melbourne head

Initiative Australia has appointmented Tristan Burrell as national chief strategy officer and Shaun Briggs as managing director of the Melbourne agency. Their appointments follow Melissa Fein being named Initiative Australia’s new CEO. Read more here.

Chris Platt named MD of UM Brisbane

Former GPY&R campaign planning director Chris Platt has joined UM Brisbane. Platt takes on the role of MD, beginning in January of next year. Prior to GPY&R, Platt was the head of strategy for Carat Brisbane and consultant strategist for Haystac.

Vizeum bolsters leadership team

Vizeum has continued to bolster its senior leadership team, appointing Stephen Deane and Tom Cooper as general managers in Sydney and Melbourne. Dean has held CMO roles at Online Courses, Guvera and Shine Lawyers throughout his career. Joining from Cowan Design, Cooper has previously worked at GPY&R and M&C Saatchi.

DDB Group Sydney appoints head of technology

DDB Sydney has appointed Sean Gardner as head of technology for the agency. Gardner joins DDB Sydney after six years with WHYBIN/TBWA/Digital Arts Network where he most recently held the position of digital business director, working across large multi-national clients including NRMA, Tourism New Zealand, David Jones, Red Bull and Krispy Kreme.

Emotive bolsters social media team

Social video content marketing agency Emotive has promoted Jamie Crick to the newly created role of social media director to expand its amplification offering. Emotive also announced the appointment of John Principe in the role of social strategy manager. John joins Emotive from DT and Slingshot, and will work closely with Jamie and the team in building out social media solutions.

New local lead for Rocket Fuel

Rocket Fuel has today named Mailee Creacy as its country manager for Australia and New Zealand. Creacy has worked at Rocket Fuel for six years, she was formerly director of platform development for Rocket Fuel in New York and moved to the Sydney office in September to take up the position of Sales Director for NSW and QLD. In this role, Creacy will be charged with overseeing all of Rocket Fuel’s business and operational activities across Australia and New Zealand. She will also lead the sales functions, ensuring the sales and product strategy delivers best-in-class client partnerships.

Chris Savage resurfaces at The 6am Agency

Former WPP right-hand man, Chris Savage, has resurfaces at newly re-branded PR company The 6am Agency. The shop, which has previously focused on “wellbeing and good living” PR, will now be known for delivering “insights-led creative story telling which engages audiences with relevance and authenticity, across earned, owned and paid” media. Savage has become chairman and partner at the agency.
