Posterscope has named Ikon’s chief investment officer of strategy Bryan Magee as its national MD, AdNews can reveal.

The outdoor specialist media agency's top spot has been open since August when Joe Copley stepped down.

The agency has also appointed David Campbell, former Vizeum Melbourne GM, as national general manager.

Simon Ryan, CEO of Dentsu Aegis Network ANZ, says: “Bryan is well-known and incredibly respected within the media industry, and will be a great asset to lead the Posterscope team. David has worked across digital, strategy and leadership roles within Dentsu Aegis Network since 2008 and it’s great to see him progress in this new role.”

Magee joined Ikon from MediaCom, where he was national head of digital, in 2014 to take up the post of national trading director. He was promoted to chief investment officer in January 2015.

He was hired by then-Ikon CEO James Greet and was a key appointment in the rebuilding of the agency after a period that saw most of its senior team exit suddenly back in 2013.

Magee recently penned an opinion peice for AdNews outlining the tendency for media, and creative, agencies to not make the most of digital out of home media's capabilities. The piece, titled 'Digital out of home worth the premium but agencies are ballsing it up, signalled Magee's interest in the channel.
