OMD digital head to move to PHD

PHD has appointed Stuart Bailey as chief digital officer. Bailey, who currently holds the same position at OMD, brings more than 16 years of global media experience and will join the agency in January. He will oversee digital innovation across PHD nationally as well as work with digital and data partners Annalect, PHD Programmatic, Word and Airwave. “We’re extremely pleased to have Stuart join the PHD Family, a proven performer, his collaborative nature coupled with his conviction to accountability in digital, will help drive both creative and measurable outcomes for all our clients,” PHD CEO Mark Coad said.

Ex-Maccas marketer joins ad tech co RadiumOne

RadiumOne has appointed Jodie Koning as marketing director for the Asia Pacific region. Koning has more than 20 years’ experience in marketing, having worked across major multinational marketing and media organisations including Diageo, McDonald’s and Unilever. She also spent five years at ARN as national marketing director, where she led the consumer launch of Kiis 106.5 in Sydney and the re-launch of WSFM in Sydney and Gold 104.3 in Melbourne. Most recently the Senior Marketing Manager at Blackmores where she drove the Australian Open brand partnership across Australia and Asia, significantly increasing brand health measures and product sales. In her new role she will further establish RadiumOne’s position as 'the only data-driven marketing company connecting the dots between brands’ paid, earned, shared and owned assets'.

Archibald/Williams MD exits for partner gig at M&C Saatchi

After holding the MD spot at independent creative shop Archibald/Williams for just over two years, Chris Yong has left the Surry Hills-based business for a role at M&C Saatchi, AdNews can reveal. Prior to joining the Stuart Archibald and Bram Williams founded firm, which has clients such as News Corp, NRL, Citibank and Nandos, Yong worked at Clemenger BBDO for nearly 10 years. IPG reveals new Ensemble MD

IPG Mediabrands has promoted Harry Preston to managing director of the group’s brand experience agency Ensemble. Preston is currently general manager and will help lead the agency after former MD Melissa Fein stepped up as dual CEO of Initiative and Ensemble earlier this month. Preston has 16 years of multinational agency experience including stints in Europe, the US and Australia covering media and technologies across multiple marketing categories. Read more here.

303MullenLowe expands creative department

303 MullenLowe has promoted Sean Larkin and Adam Whitehead as creative directors, reporting to ECD Richard Morgan. Larkin joined 303 MullenLowe as head of copy in 2012, followed by Whitehead as head of art in 2013. Together, they have helped to craft some of the agency’s most notable campaigns for clients including Budget Direct, Harley-Davidson and Audi Australia. 303 MullenLowe has also recently added four new creatives to its Sydney department: Leila Cranswick, art director; Molly Cathcart, copywriter Anna Farrell; and art director and designer Davina Milne.

Deepend hires new head of user experience

Full service digital agency, Deepend, is building its senior bench-strength with the appointment of Glen Jeffreys to the position of head of user experience. Jeffreys will play a leadership role and help guide the team’s UX methodology and processes. He joins the team from 2and2 where he was previously lead UX designer.

 

Pacific Magazines bolsters senior management

Pacific Magazines has bolstered its senior management team, promoting Louisa Hatfield to GM of entertainment and family and Wendy Moore to GM of homes and food. The appointments follow Pacific Magazines restructure under six defined categories of food, family, home, fashion, beauty and health. Since June 2014, Hatfield has been editor-in-chief of New Idea. Moore was previously editor of Home Beautiful.

JTW NZ names Justin Barnes as ECD

J. Walter Thompson New Zealand has hired Justin Barnes as ECD. Justin, who was most recently creative director at SapientNitro in London, will take the creative reins in January. Barnes has been responsible for highly-awarded campaigns across 15 years at ad agencies Saatchi & Saatchi, Ogilvy and David & Goliath, across brands including Footlocker, Converse, McLaren Automotive, Standard Chartered Bank, Ladbrokes and Lycra.

Lavender grows experience design team

Susann Clifton-Smith (PhD) has joined CX agency Lavender’s expanding experience design team lead by head of experience design, Eric Folger. Clifton-Smith started her career in IT, academia and digital consulting. Specialising in the psychology of people, asking questions that identify customers’ unarticulated needs, Clifton-Smith further strengthens CX agency Lavender’s capability to use insights that help its clients build meaningful relevance and shape customer solutions. She joins Lavender from UI Group where she was previously head of experience design.

Fisher joins indy
This week independent agency Hatched Media added ex-Initiative Melbourne MD, Stephen Fisher, to its management team in the role of GM. Fisher joins the agency after leaving Initiative earlier this year. Hatched has seen “significant growth” in 2016 with the addition of several clients and it was also recently included in BRW Fast Starters 2016 list. Fisher says there is no doubt the independent agency space is flourishing, with clients looking for partners “with both the agility and smarts” that the sector is able to offer. Hatched Media’s current client roster include the likes of Dairy Australia, Sensis, Fernwood Fitness, Dennis Family Corporation, Funlab (Strike Bowling & Skyzone), Village Cinemas, Retail Zoo (incl. Boost Juice & Cibo Espresso),Huawei and more.
