Movers & Shakers: Clemenger, dentsu, Howatson+Company, Snap

It's hard to keep up with all the latest moves across media, marketing and advertising, so we've made a list. Check out the some of the biggest moves this week.

Howatson+Company appoints a chief data and technology officer
Hoang Nguyen, former director, digital and engineering at Appscore and executive director of engineering at CHE Proximity, has joined Howatson+Company as chief data and technology officer. Before joining Howatson+Company, Hoang led teams and designed architectures for several blue-chip enterprises such as NAB and ANZ, Samsung, Telstra, and many financial and technology startups.

BWM Isobar's Brent Kerby becomes CEO of Clemenger BBDO Sydney
Clemenger Group announced Brent Kerby as CEO of Clemenger BBDO Sydney. He joins the agency from BWM Isobar, where he was managing director in Sydney, presiding over a period of prolific business growth and local and global creative recognition.

Snap makes two key hires
Snap has made two key appointments, including Gareth Leeding as creative director for the APAC region and Haran Ramachandran as creative strategy lead for Australia and New Zealand. Leeding joins Snap as head of creative strategy for APAC, Snap’s first dedicated creative leader in the region. Leeding has more than 18 years of experience, most recently as executive creative director at We Are Social in the UK. Ramachandran joins to lead creative strategy for Australia and New Zealand. Ramachandran has also relocated from London where he was most recently the creative lead for Three Mobile and PR agency The Academy.

CHEP's David Halter is dentsu's new chief of strategy
Dentsu has appointed David Halter as chief strategy and growth officer of its ANZ business. He joins from Clemenger Group, where he was chief strategy officer and Sydney MD of CHE Proximity, partnering with innovative brands including Samsung, IKEA, Danone, NRMA, eBay, and Virgin Australia.

Pedestrian Group reveals local Vice team
Pedestrian Group has revealed the new team for Vice Australia and New Zealand. Led by head of editorial Brad Esposito, the team includes Nick Wray as senior video producer, Gavin Butler as senior news reporter, Arielle Richards as multimedia reporter and Julie Fenwick as writer and producer.

Nova appoints Adam Johnson as chief growth officer
Adam Johnson will oversee Nova Network’s brand marketing and communications in the newly created role of chief growth officer. Before joining Nova Entertainment, he was based in London as chief marketing officer for Global, a media and entertainment company. Johnson has also worked for Microsoft, George Patterson/Y&R, and Nokia Australia.

Abigail Dawson moves from Special
Abigail Dawson has switched from Special Group to creative technology company Enero as its communications director. She will be responsible for leading both the internal and external communications and brand marketing for multi award-winning creative agency BMF, digital creative agency Orchard as well as the Enero Group globally. Tiffany Hunter is now leading Special Australia's PR.

Chris Thomas joins Involved Media
Involved Media and Active International Australia have appointed Chris Thomas head of digital across both businesses. Thomas has been consulting to Involved Media, an independent media agency, since last year. He now joins the agency full-time and will also work across Involved Media’s parent company Active International Australia, an independent corporate trade and financial solution business. He worked as head of digital at Publicis Media for almost four years, until April 2021. He has also worked in senior roles at Zenith in Australia, OMD in Australia and the UK, and Integral Ad Science in the UK.

TRA reveals new hires
Research and insights agency TRA (The Research Agency) announced senior hires in Melbourne. Andie Lowings and Alex Forrester join as business directors. Brand and communications expert Mark Hutchinson joins as product owner of TRA’s new brand management product, Streamlight.  Forrester has held strategy and client service positions with Clemenger BBDO, VMLY&R and most recently was strategy director at The Lab. Hutchinson has a a business consulting background and senior analytical and brand roles including IPSOS Australia. Lowings is a specialist in brand strategy and innovation and has held senior roles in Australia at House of Brand and in the UK at boutique consultancies. 

JCDecaux appoints acting sales director NSW
Jenna D'Auvergne has been appointed JCDecaux acting sales director – NSW while Gemma Watkins heads off on parental leave. D'Auvergne, from February 14 and throughout 2022, will lead the teams working with global agency holding groups.

OzTAM appoints industry development director
OzTAM has appointed Kevin Dillon to the newly-created role of industry development director. In the stakeholder-facing role, spanning broadcasters, media agencies and industry bodies, Dillon will lead OzTAM’s efforts to identify and develop new tools and data that allow broadcasters to maximise their audiences, and advertisers to reach them.
