Southern Cross Media Group has appointed Mamamia CEO Natalie Harvey to the newly created role of chief revenue office.

The appointment, following the departure of chief commercial officer Seb Rennie, is part of a streamlined operating model designed to accelerate commercial growth across the combined SCA and Seven network.

Harvey said she was thrilled to be joining SCA at such an exciting time.

"The business has an incredible opportunity to unlock the full potential of its combined strengths, creating even greater value for audiences and brand partners,” she said.

"(CEO) Rohan (Lund) has a compelling vision for the future, and I'm excited to work alongside the team to help deliver on that ambition," she said.

Harvey joins from Mamamia, where she was CEO, having initially joined as chief revenue officer in January 2024.

Before that she was national sales director at Seven West Media and spent more than nine years at UM Australia, rising to general manager.

Harvey will report directly to CEO Rohan Lund, leading SCA's national commercial strategy with a focus on premium revenue, business development and digital transformation.

Lund said there was significant momentum across the group and an enormous opportunity in bringing together the combined content and advertising strengths.

"Creating the chief revenue officer role ensures we have single-minded leadership over our national commercial strategy," he said.

“Natalie brings an extraordinary depth of media experience and a proven track record across both publisher and agency sectors.

“Her exceptional skill set in building digital commercial businesses, paired with her deep expertise across television, audio and publishing platforms, makes her the ideal leader to unlock the full potential of our combined strengths.”

Southern Cross Media has started a significant cost cutting exercise, with up to 300 roles to be eliminated. The target is $145 to $150 million stripped from the company.

The company in February posted its first combined post-merger results, for both television and audio, with total revenue down 1.5% to $1.008 billion in the half year to December. Television revenue was down 2.1% to $712 million while audio was up 3.2% to $216.5 million.

Southern Cross is due to release its full year results next month.

At Mamamia, Luca Lavigne, the son of co-founders Jason Lavigne and Mia Freedman, will replace Harvey as CEO.

He has spent two years as Mamamia’s chief operating officer and chief product officer and more than ten years working across every aspect of the business.
