Mamamia managing director Kylie Rogers is exiting the business to join the AFL as its general manager of commercial.

Rogers joined Mamamia three years ago, working her way up from her initial position of national sales director.

Prior to Mamamia, she spent 17 years at Ten across a number of roles including national commercial director and national head of generate, the network’s in-house content, strategy and integration agency.

Rogers thanked owners Mia Freedman and Jason Lavigne for her time at Mamamia, adding she was proud of what she achieved.

“I have adored working for Mamamia and thank Jason and Mia for their ongoing support. With all the great work that Mamamia does producing exceptional content and delivering results for brands, the decision has been difficult - but as a passionate AFL fan, the opportunity to work in Australia’s biggest sport, and at a time when the women’s game is also taking off is just too exciting to pass up," she says.

Co-founder Jason Lavigne will resume his role as CEO of the Mamamia Women’s Network to helm the business through this next planned growth phase, and Mia Freedman will be taking on the newly created role of MD of content and strategy.

Lavigne says: “Mia and I are delighted to be back steering Mamamia into its next phase of growth during this time of structural change within the local media industry - it’s these times that provide perfect opportunities for innovative challenger brands like Mamamia."

AFL CEO Gillon McLachlan adds: “We are very lucky to have attracted Kylie to this role, and I am delighted to have her join my executive team. She brings unique commercial, media and digital experience to the AFL, and represents the future of audience growth, new markets and commerciality to the team."

The news follows the departure of Mamamia Podcast Network director Monique Bowley, who exited to take up a role at the ABC.

It also comes a month after Mamamia confirmed to AdNews it has scaled back its US operations, Spring St.

Rogers will commence with the AFL in the coming months.
