Guzman y Gomez (GYG) has appointed Ben Greenslade head of go to market and planning, leading the national marketing team, AdNews can reveal.

Greenslade joins from M+C Saatchi Australia, where he spent more than eight years, most recently as group head on integrated accounts spanning retail, FMCG, automotive and insurance.

He led BIG W for five years, winning a Gold Effie for long-term effects, and built the agency's partnership with Jaecoo and Omoda, the Chinese automotive brands new to Australia.

Before that he ran M+C Saatchi Sport and Entertainment Australia as general manager for nearly two years.

"As head of go to market and planning I'll be leading the delivery of our marketing plan. In my first week I've been busy getting up to speed and having some time in restaurant seeing the dedication of our crew to fresh, great tasting food, first hand," Greenslade said.

The appointment comes amid a period of change in GYG's marketing leadership.

Global CMO Lara Thom departed in April after a decade with the brand, with Claire West stepping up from director of marketing to lead the broader marketing function.

Alison Walsh, who spent 17 years at GYG helping scale the business from a start-up into a multi-billion-dollar global brand, also left to become CMO at Chatime Australia.

GYG operates 256 restaurants worldwide and surpassed $1 billion in network sales in FY25, up 23% year-on-year.
