Omnicom Media Australia has appointed Kristiaan Kroon CEO, stepping up from his role as chief operating officer, insiders confirmed.
Kroon replaces Peter Horgan, who departed in March, with PHD Australia CEO Mark Jarrett set to take on the role of chief operating officer.
Donna Bartlett has also been appointed to the role of chief financial officer and OMD co-CEO Laura Nice replaces Jarrett as CEO of PHD Australia.
The appointment comes as Omnicom works through a major restructure following its merger with IPG, which became final this week.
The merger will form an organisation of 100,000 employees and about $25.6 billion in revenue.
Locally, DDB Australia is being folded into Clemenger BBDO Australia, with Sheryl Marjoram (Sydney) and Mike Napolitano (Melbourne) appointed as co-CEOs.
Lee Leggett, the outgoing CEO of Clemenger BBDO, takes a new senior role as chief customer officer, Omnicom Oceania.
Hearts & Science, Initiative, MediaHub, OMD, PHD and UM all remain as distinct agencies.
The restructure has claimed two high profile IPG Mediabrands executives.
Mark Coad, who was CEO of IPG Mediabrands Australia and chair of the Media Federation of Australia, and Leigh Terry, IPG Mediabrands APAC CEO, have both lost their roles in the merger.
AdNews reported Australian redundancies are limited, though globally Omnicom is cutting about 4,000 roles on top of thousands already gone in the lead up to the deal.
As part of the global creative reorganisation, DDB and FCB brands are being retired. DDB and MullenLowe will be absorbed into TBWA, while FCB is being swallowed by BBDO.
In New Zealand, DDB Group Aotearoa and FCB Group Aotearoa have merged to form McCann Group NZ, with Priya Patel and Paul Wilson appointed as co-CEOs.
Nick Garrett, Omnicom Oceania’s CEO, said the shift will bring together top-tier creative and media capabilities with more intelligent use of data and technology, ultimately driving stronger results for brands across Australia and New Zealand.
