Saatchi & Saatchi has appointed Kate Smither from M&C Saatchi as its new chief strategy officer, following the departure of Jason Lonsdale last year.

Smither was previously group strategy director at M&C, leading strategy across all of CommBank's communications after joining the agency in September 2014. She previously worked across agencies including Ogilvy & Mather in London, GPY&R and Landor.

Smither replaces former chief strategy officer, Lonsdale, who left the agency in November last year for a role at New York agency Mekanism.

Saatchi & Saatchi CEO Michael Rebelo says: “It’s genuinely exciting to have someone of Kate's world-class strategic pedigree join our team.

“She is a proven strategic leader who is passionate about creativity that solves client’s business problems.

“Her international and Australian experience will be a great source of insight for our clients, and importantly the chemistry fit with our culture is spot on.”

M&C Saatchi chief strategy officer Justin Graham thanked Smither for her work with the agency.
