Creative agency Joy has brought on two “legends of the business”, hiring Nicole Milward and Steve Back to round off its new senior team.

Back, one of the biggest names in the local market, was most recently at Ogilvy Australia as its chief creative officer and joins Joy as creative partner. His experience includes a role at Ogilvy & Mather Singapore and work for Saatchi & Saatchi Australia. He starts at Joy immediately.

Milward was fomerly the chief strategy officer at ZenithOptimedia and will join Joy as its new strategic partner. Her experience in adland spans long running strategy roles at Publicis Mojo and McCann. She starts her new role in March.

Milward and Back will join recent hire Simon Ludowyke, and partners Graeme Wills, Simon Rush and Andrew Wynne as the senior team.

“They're legendary in the business so they are huge hires for us,” Wills told AdNews.

“It's all designed for us to be an amazing creative agency that can also connect in a creative way.”

Wills said Milward's experience in both media and creative agencies was a huge plus for the agency, which has several full service clients.

“It's been a memorable few weeks in the 'life and time' of Joy,” Wills said.

“We've built the ultimate senior team of someone beside Ludowyke who understands conception and creativity from a planning point of view, and a huge heavyweight creative who gets how to do creative in a new world.”
