Influencers party at the AiMCO awards

Influencers, agencies and agents partied hard last night in Sydney at the The Australian Influencer Marketing Council (AiMCO) annual awards.

The awards, the second year celebrating the power of influencer marketing, at Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf, were hosted by MattyJ and Starr McGowan.

The 24 winners and 26 highly commended were selected from 113 finalists. 

AiMCO chair Sharyn Smith, founder and CEO of Social Soup and director of The Influence Group: "We're not just a reflection of society of what we do, it leads society, that what we do creates the standards, it creates the standards of society.

"And through that, we have an opportunity to make a positive impact. An example of that is we have the power to create a more equitable and inclusive society, by the types of creators and campaigns that that we choose, we have the power to make a more sustainable society, through the behaviors that we model in the work that we do, and the products that we choose to promote within those, and we also have the power to make a more kind and compassionate society.

"Because at the end of the day, our channel is is people, we are powered by people and people matter. So the way that we treat each other with respect and kindness and the way that we model that behavior as well, is really important.

"So let's celebrate the power of connection with the best of influencer marketing. And tonight, we want to learn from the best. And I encourage you to hunger to make that even better. And go beyond that, to think about what we do and how you can actually make a positive change for society."

The 2022 AiMCO Most Influential – Industry Award was presented to Hello Social for their campaign for Paramount+ featuring The Inspired Unemployed and The Beetoota Advocate. This partnership delivered a comical content series about streaming fails which was shared over 34,000 times and helped drive Paramount+ to the position of fastest growing Australian streaming service, as well as picking up the 2022 AiMCO Most Effective Collaboration or Partnership Award.

The 2022 AiMCO Most Influential – Creator Award was presented to Ella Watkins. Ella Watkins is a creator who has amassed over 2.7 million followers on TikTok with comedy sketches featuring women’s, LGBTQ+ issues, and autism awareness as central themes of her content. Ella also won the Best Comedy and Entertainment Creator. @ellawhatkins, @ella.whatkins
