Mark Coad, former CEO of IPG Mediabrands, has joined independent media agency Hatched as strategic advisor, tasked with rolling out its AI and automation product, driving business development and mentoring the leadership team.

Coad has led OMD Australia and PHD, and served as chair of the Media Federation of Australia.

He has also been a board member of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival for 12 years.

Hatched's AI and automation initiative aims to remove repetitive tasks and free staff to focus on client work.

The agency has grown client spend by more than 40% in the past year, with headcount up almost 25% across Melbourne and Sydney.

"The opportunity to support the team at Hatched is an exciting one," Coad said.

"I bring experience and knowledge to guide business planning, new product development, as well as improved ways of working.

“Now is the time for agencies like Hatched, and I plan to do everything I can to help accelerate the continued growth trajectory of the business."

Hatched CEO Adrian Roeling said Coad brought direct experience overseeing large-scale automation and technology projects at major multinational agencies.

"As we enter the next curve of our technology design and adoption, Mark's experience will ensure we maximise our investment and fine-tune our delivery," Roeling said.

Sydney operations at Hatched are led by managing partners Catherine Edghill and Danni Dimitri.

Coad also recently joined business growth consultancy, 24 Hour Business Plan (24HRBP) as a partner and senior advisor alongside founder, Andrew “Billy” Baxter.
