EXCLUSIVE: Online travel brand Expedia has appointed former Adshel marketer Joana Barros as senior marketing manager of Australia and New Zealand.

Barros, who was national marketing manager of outdoor firm Adshel until January this year, assumes the role on a 13 month contract replacing Louise Crompton who has taken maternity leave.

Prior to joining Adshel in 2008, Barros worked at Telstra on its BigPond brand, first as marketing specialist on the BigPond broadband business and then heading up marketing for BigPond Movies.

Expedia, which launched into the Australian market in 2005, rolled out its first major brand marketing push in May 2010.

The brand is currently running a major brand campaign to promote its "No Fees" booking system. The campaign was created by Expedia's advertising agency BMF.
