Destination NSW is bracing itself for a major creative project by calling a pitch for its lengthy agency roster.

The organisation has a number of agencies on its roster as a result of a pitch which wrapped up in April last year. Creative agencies appearing on its books at the time of the announcement include Banjo, Droga5, GPY&R, Iris, McCann, Publicis Mojo, BMF, along with a number of digital, branding, social, production, design and technology specialists.

While it is not clear which agencies are involved in the pitch, AdNews understands five or six agencies are participating. It is also thought that the agencies involved are being paid for their work done in the pitch.

A Destination NSW spokesperson confirmed the pitch to AdNews.

“Destination NSW has issued a creative pitch to some of the agencies currently engaged on the approved DNSW Marketing Services Agencies panel," the spokesperson said. "This is part of ongoing projects and is not about securing or tendering for a new agency for the current panel.”

Destination NSW would not be drawn on what specific project the pitch was for.

In its latest annual report, Destination NSW noted it ran 50 campaigns in Sydney and 34 regionally. It ran 4315 individual pieces of advertising.

According to Nielsen, Destination NSW's estimated ad spend between 06 July 2014 - 18 Jun 2015 was $2.14 million.

All agencies contacted declined to comment.
