DDB's RAPP and 303Lowe in tight race for Audi account

The race for the Audi account continues, with two agencies now in the running, AdNews understands.

AdNews revealed last month that DDB's RAPP was on alert with the car brand said to be testing the waters with agencies about its creative account. RAPP is now said to be going up against 303Lowe for the business.

While the process hasn't gone to a formal pitch, AdNews understands that the agencies have presented to the client and are awaiting the outcome.

Audi is part of the Volkswagen Group, which recently appointed DDB to its VW, Volkswagen commercial vehicles and Skoda brands. Globally, VW's account is held by DDB in a long-running relationship which has spanned nearly 60 years.

Incumbent RAPP last had to pitch for the Audi account in October 2013, however the agency managed to retain the business, holding off 303Lowe and Host to do so.

The news comes as Audi inked a renewed contract with its digital agency Holler for another three years.

Both agencies declined to comment on the Audi account. Audi did not respond by AdNews' deadline.
