DDB makes love; wins Momentum Energy

By Sarah Homewood and Rachael Micallef | 5 June 2015

DDB Melbourne wants to make love. It wants to make love with its clients, but most importantly it wants to generate love within its agency.

It may sound a bit 70's, but the agency wants to create content that is loved by clients and audiences, and that kind of content comes from an agency that loves what it does.

Speaking to AdNews about the 'love' David Brown group managing director at DDB said: “It's all about the people and about the culture and that's what we've spent most of our time on.”

“We've got some brilliant people who probably weren't deployed in the right way, so what we've been trying to do is make sure we have our best people working on the right components of the business.”

While the love movement in the agency is just beginning, it must be working, with the agency inking a deal with new client Momentum Energy.

Confirming the win to AdNews Brown said: “ Momentum Energy came through RAPP but you know this is very much about the group, and while the the account it will be run by RAPP this is very much about the group offering the specialist skills we needed to offer a great brand idea for them.”

Brown explained that the work that is coming down the pipe for the brand won't just be traditional advertising, it will also help the brand build up its presence and he said that the win points to the fact that the agency is, “heading in the right direction”.

Brown explained that while the agency in Melbourne is a relativity large one, for him it's about keeping the agency agile and bespoke.

“The only way we could do that was to get everybody to work together, and a lot closer,” he said.

“While the individual brands need to stand for something and be the best they can be in the market, it's about how we work together behind the scenes, making sure we have a lovely culture that produces lovely work, work that connects with clients,” he said.
