DDB Worldwide president and CEO Wendy Clark has departed the network to take on the global CEO role at Dentsu Aegis Network (DAN).

In her new role, she is tasked with leading 42,000 people across DAN's business outside of Japan and will report to DAN executive chairman Tim Andree.

Clark takes over the CEO role from Andree who had filled the spot when former CEO Jerry Bulhman departed DAN in late 2018.

Clark was with Omnicom Group's DDB for more than four years where she first led the North American business before being promoted to the global role.

During her time with DDB, Clark was behind the set up of the network's bespoke agency, We Are Unlimited, for McDonald's in North America.

She has nearly 30 years of experience and has previously held senior marketing roles for brands including The Coca-Cola Company and AT&T.

Omnicom Group Inc. chairman and CEO John Wren announced former DDB Worldwide CEO and current chairman Chuck Brymer will assume additional responsibilities for the company while a search is conducted to find new leadership.

“For the twelve years that Chuck ran DDB, he helped build it into a creative powerhouse. I have the utmost confidence in his leadership, especially in these uncertain times, to steer DDB to new growth as we look for new leadership,” Wren says.

“While Wendy’s timing is unfortunate as our people and clients are struggling with the fall-out of COVID-19, the network is in more than capable hands with Chuck leading the business.”

Brymer says he looks forward to getting back into the role and continuing the network's global success.

“I love everything about DDB but most importantly our people and our clients,” Brymer says.

“It is a company with amazing creative talent and energy. I look forward to getting back to work to help drive our success even further.”

Chuck joined DDB as Worldwide CEO in 2006.

Under his leadership, he expanded DDB’s stature and geographical footprint, through the acquisition of adam&eve in the UK, Mudra in India and Grupo ABC in Brazil.
