Brisbane-based Griffith University has awarded independent communications group BCM its creative account and WPP-owned Wavemaker its media account, after a competitive tender, AdNews reveals.

The account has moved from creative incumbent Publicis Worldwide and media incumbent WPP-owned Essence Mediacom, Griffith University confirmed to AdNews.

BCM Group walked away from its 23 year relationship with Queensland University of Technology after its last statutory review in 2022.

EssenceMediacom is currently defending the Queensland Government's $60m master media account which is up for pitch.

AdNews reported the tender in June, in which a industry insider said "it's expected that everybody in town is going for it."

Publicis, BCM and GroupM had no comment.
