Eugene Varricchio will lead Bauer's customer content arm, BauerWorks, as executive general manager Niall Murphy decides to depart the business.

Murphy is exiting the publishing business after nearly a decade of holding senior positions both in Australia and Hong Kong.

Varricchio has been with Bauer Media for 16 years and will head up BauerWorks in addition to his current role as director of operations.

Bauer interim CEO Andreas Schoo says: “Eugene's deep understanding of retail, publishing and customer experience means he is perfectly placed to lead the business during its next phase of growth."

Varricchio joined Bauer in 2000, when it was known as ACP Magazines, as director of retail sales. Since then, he has worked across roles including group general manager of retail and distribution and director of operations and retail sales.

Varricchio says: “I’m looking forward to working with our commercial partners and team of highly strategic and creative content marketers as we continue to build on the success Bauer Works has enjoyed over a number of years.”

Last week, in her first move as director of sales. Fiorella Di Santo merged Bauer’s print and digital sales teams.
