The ANZ bank has paused a review of its media agency account, a process it started earlier this year across Australia and New Zealand.

The decision comes after a company-wide strategic review, including the recent unveiling of its refreshed ANZ 2030 strategy on October 13.

An ANZ spokesperson said several elements of the strategic review are still in progress and the bank decided to put the media agency RFI (request for Information) on hold.

"We will provide further updates in due course," the spokesperson said.

The media review, which began in August 2025, was intended to assess ANZ's partnership with PHD, the incumbent agency which has held the account for 14 years.

PHD had been invited to participate in the review, alongside other potential agency partners.

The pause follows broader changes at ANZ, including the appointment of Leo Burnett as lead creative agency in 2024.

The bank had previously indicated that the media review would align with shifting trends in the media landscape, including the impact of new technologies and evolving agency models.

PHD remains ANZ’s media agency, and there will be no immediate change to the bank's media strategy.
