Indie agency Mother London has teamed up with Finger Music to re-record Australian rapper Iggy Azalea’s hit ‘Fancy’ in a 1920’s-style campaign for UK gin brand, Tanqueray.

The ad features a Gatsbyesque film, ‘Tonight We Tanqueray’, to celebrate 180 years of the iconic dry gin. The campaign launched in Spain on 1 August.

The moody film opens in an empty bar where Azaela's recognisable intro to 'Fancy' is being played staccato on an old piano.

Music Supervisor on the project, Chris Phelps said it was important for the the jazz version of the track to have a recognisable melody.

In terms of production, it’s possible to play almost any song using 1920’s instrumentation and/or production, but it was the melody and catchiness that was most important.”

US band Leisure Cruise - who composed the re-record of the song – have describe themselves as “sounding like the future as imagined in the past—yet rooted in the now.”
