Optus has ramped up the ridiculous in its latest ad featuring Ricky Gervais.

The new 30 second ad is the latest in a series featuring The Office creator putting progressively less effort into his promotional tie-up with the telco.

The spot features Gervais reading a paper in an enormous marble bathtub, surrounded by burning torches, Greco-Roman-style.

After 15 seconds, the comedian lowers his paper in disgust and says simply: “Optus”.

Emotive and M&C Saatchi are behind the campaign.
