Nissan pays tribute to its competition

Touching tribute or backhanded compliment?

Nissan US is making waves in the pick-up truck market with the release of its new ad that debuted during a US football championship.

The 90-second ad by TBWAChiatDay, plays on sentimentality showing children idolising their parents who were once firefighters, astronauts and professional sports players. The ad, called 'Shoulder of Giants' features parents in the next generation of their lives having taken on the career of parenting instead of fighting fires and walking on the moon.

The voiceover then says, “To those who go before us – Chevy, Ford, Dodge. Thank you. We see the way forward.”

Apparently, Nissan created the ad to honour the more established car brands although we aren’t entirely sure that is how Chevy, Ford and Dodge will see it.
