A gut-wrenching film by Leo Burnett Thailand for Tesco Lotus aims to reinforce the power of women.

Leo Burnett Group Thailand has released a heart wrenching short film for the supermarket giant Tesco Lotus to celebrate the sacrifices women make.

In a two minute tearjerker for the Thai conglomerate, a parent is depicted going to extreme lengths for their child.

The ad was created to celebrate Mother's Day in Thailand on 9 August, with Leo Burnett aiming to reinforce Tesco Lotus' key message of the belief in the power and strength of women.

The ad tells a harrowing narrative of a parent who has landed a job as a taxi driver and is forced to endure threatening and violent passengers so she can provide for her son.

But it's the surprise twist at the end that provides the real poignancy: the driver is a woman who has been forced to cut off her hair and give up her femininity.
