From Redfern to Mirrabooka and Tennant Creek to Bakery Hill, this clip tells the stories of characters from across the nation.

In the lead up to Australia Day, CommBank has partnered with international film director Gillian Armstrong to produce, a 23-minute documentary that celebrates everyday Australians.

Armstrong has previously worked as the director on movies including Little Women, My Brilliant Career, Oscar and Lucinda.

The documentary, 'The Inspiring Story of Us', is made up of crowdsourced, raw footage sourced from individuals around Australia, from Redfern to Mirrabooka and Tennant Creek to Bakery Hill.

The individuals speak to the camera about their passions and personal stories. One young man says he is the founder of the first free mobile laundry service for the homeless, and a woman says her key to happiness is animals while she plays with a wombat.

National Australia Day Council chairman Ben Roberts-Smith, says: “CommBank has supported the Australian of the Year Awards for more than 35 years and this year extended its support to recognise everyday Aussies with the Australian of the Day initiative.

The 30-second teaser will be played in cinema and on YouTube. The full version of the film will be housed on the Australian of the Day website.
