IAB Australia has appointed News Digital Media commercial director Tony Prentice as chairman, following the resignation of Nick Spooner.

Prentice was unanimously voted in by the IAB board, will work closely with chief executive Paul Fisher and oversee the roll-out of IAB's upcoming strategies. His appointment is effective immediately.

Spooner stood down from the chairman position last month after he resigned as Network Ten's chief digital officer to join Salmat Digital as chief executive. Spooner was appointed as IAB chairman in April.

Prentice said: "It is a great privilege to be taking on this role during such an exciting and transformational time for the industry. As interactive advertising revenue continues to grow strongly, publishers and the market look to the IAB for guidance and leadership.

"I look forward to working with the board and Paul to ensure our members continue to meet the needs of advertisers, agencies and marketers, using world-class practices."

Fisher said: "The IAB has an ambitious program of work across measurement, self-regulation, best practice, advocacy and research. I am excited to work with Tony, the board and the IAB membership to continue to shape this industry and influence the increasing investment into interactive advertising."
