DDB Group Sydney has been appointed creative agency for classifieds site Gumtree following a competitive pitch.

It's the first time Gumtree has appointed a full service agency in Australia, previously working with local production houses. News of the pitch emerged last month.

DDB has landed it, and will use group companies RAPP and Tribal to manage multi-channel communications for the online trader.

Sara McConkey, head of marketing at Gumtree said the firm was "really excited about our new partnership with DDB Sydney. The team demonstrated an obvious passion for our brand throughout the pitch process, as well as an impressive level of strategic thinking and creativity

“We know the team will be a great fit as we look to further establish and grow the Gumtree brand in Australia.”

DDB Australia MD Andrew Little said the firm was delighted with the win. “The Gumtree business has been an extraordinary success in many countries and we look forward to building on that momentum moving forward.

“Gumtree is a really energetic and talented team and we have thoroughly enjoyed working with them throughout the pitch process."

DDB Sydney will commence work on the Gumtree account straight away.
