Brains behind Brandscreen Seth Yates joins Gaines at Krux

Seth Yates, one of the pioneers behind advertising platform Brandscreen, has exited video specialist Viocorp after four months and joined former Brandscreen exec Jo Gaines at data specialist Krux.

Yates spent five and a half years at Fairfax before going on to help found Brandscreen, and is credited with being the technical brains behind the platform.

Brandscreen found itself in financial trouble last year when financial backers expressed a difference of opinion with management. As a result, the company entered voluntary administration in December 2013 before striking a deal with Georgia-based Zenovia in March.

Yates left around the same time, with chief revenue officer Jo Gaines seeing the acquisition bed-in before heading to Krux earlier this month. Now Yates has joined her at the DMP as head of technology. Former Brandscreen CEO Stu Spiteri heads up Krux's Asia Pacific operation.

Meanwhile Brandscreen is taking shape under its new owners, with the company understood to be hiring a senior management team to run the business locally. One of the company's senior bosses Scott H Smith was in Sydney earlier this month to oversee the process.
