AdNews Podcast: Reflecting on the biggest stories of 2017

By AdNews | 31 December 2017

In our final edition of the AdNews podcast, the AdNews team reflect on the year that was and the trends that impacted the industry.

From transparency, to the rise of consultancies to the theme of trust, Rosie Baker, Lindsay Bennett, Pippa Chambers and Arvind Hickman share their thoughts on the biggest news stories of the year, their predictions for 2018 and their favourite Aussies ads.

"2017 can only be defined by one thing. That is the shattering of trust. Every which way you look, trust was decimated. Like a wine glass dropped on kitchen tiles, a broken window, a cracked mirror looking back at the world, tiny fragments of what was previously taken from granted, believed in and relied upon, now lays scattered on the ground," Baker says.

"When Facebook came out and admitted its metrics were wrong, and there were several admissions, a lot of traditional media players looked at this and used it as leverage to show people that trust in digital isn't as clean as it should be," Hickman says.
