AdNews wraps up the biggest pitch news and wins from the last fortnight.

Afterpay decides on new media agency

Buy now, pay later business Afterpay has switched media agencies from incumbent Initiative.

An Afterpay spokesperson told AdNews 'the media agency appointment process has not yet concluded'.

However, sources say indie hot shop Atomic 212° is in lead for the account after the pitch.

WA Department of Education pitching creative

Western Australia's Department of Education is pitching its creative services.

The tender closed March 12 and the process has not yet been finalised, the department confirmed to AdNews

WA Department of Education's tender stated that the department is seeking to establish a panel of "suitably experienced and qualified suppliers to assist with the development and production of Creative and Communication Services".

Specsavers media account goes to pitch

Optical brand Specsavers is reviewing its ANZ media agency partnerships.

Interested agencies are invited to pitch for the media account. The pitch opened this week with a short RFI.

Since 2016 in Australia and 2010 in New Zealand, Specsavers has worked with IPG Mediabrands’ Initiative and GroupM's EssenceMediacom NZ.

WA Health pitching creative

Western Australia's Department of Health is pitching its creative services. The tender closed in November and is under review.

The department wants a panel of large, mid-size and small creative agencies to deliver strategic and creative advertising, and related services for various campaigns and public education awareness activities as required, on a non-exclusive basis.

Special wins Employment Hero global pitch

Employment Hero has appointed independent creative agency Special London on a global brand brief.

This follows a competitive pitch between agencies from both Sydney and London.

Special is tasked to help the global employment management platform drive penetration in key markets including the UK, US, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore and Malaysia.

DEPT wins Grill'd pitch

Australian-owned multinational casual dining restaurant chain Grill’d has picked global digital agency DEPT as its partner for creating digital experiences, following a multi-agency pitch.

Serving as an extension of Grill’d’s internal product, tech, and creative teams, DEPT has worked with the Grilld team to launch the company's new iOS/Android app. DEPT has also redesigned the Grill’d website.

Claxon wins UK's Phizz

Independent growth agency Claxon has been appointed media and creative agency of record for UK-based health and wellness brand, Phizz.

The agency has an immediate remit to build an omni-channel media strategy for the UK market.

Claxon's use of creative AI will be integral to help drive sustainable growth and success for the brand.

JAC Motors appoints We Are Different to lead earned, social and influencer work

Automotive manufacturer JAC Motors has appointed earned-first creative agency We Are Different as its exclusive earned, social and influencer agency partner in Australia. 

The appointment follows a competitive pitch. 

Different is tasked with introducing the brand to the Australian market, including the launch of its first Australian-delivered passenger vehicle, the JAC T9 Ute. 

The Brand Agency wins Tourism WA account

Tourism Western Australia has awarded The Brand Agency a long term creative services contract to continue bringing Walking On A Dream to the world.

The contract will be in place for up to five years. Tourism WA and The Brand Agency worked together to launch the highly successful Walking On A Dream destination brand for Western Australia in September 2022.
