Movers & Shakers: OMD, Nine, MCN

It's hard to keep up with all the latest moves across media, marketing and advertising, so we've made a list. Check out the biggest moves in adland this week.

OMD Sydney restructure 
OMD has revealed a new leadership structure for its Sydney office, which sees the appointment of dual managing directors and the addition of a national chief operating officer role. OMD Sydney general manager Kim Hamilton has been promoted to a joint managing director role, alongside Laura Nice. Hamilton has been with OMD for more than five years, first leading the agency’s performance media team, followed by a promotion in 2016 to GM of the Sydney office. Nice returns from Annalect UK, Omnicom's data, technology and analytics division, to join Hamilton.

Ex-APN Outdoor boss opens consultancy
Former APN Outdoor CEO James Warburton is heading into the world of consultancy, working with private equity firms CVC Limited and Alceon Group. The ex-outdoor boss exited the business late last year after only 10 months in the role, following APN Outdoor's acquisition by French rival JCDecaux for $1.2 billion. Warburton, who joined APN Outdoor after a four-year stint as CEO of V8 Supercars, also revealed he was returning to the world of auto-racing, taking on a board role with the Australian Racing Group.

Nine hires ex-APN sales director
Nine has appointed former APN Outdoor national sales director Tim Rose to the newly created role of director of sales – Nine+. Rose be will charged with leading a new team focused on providing marketing solutions to Australia’s small-to-medium business owners using Nine’s television, digital and publishing assets. Rose has held several senior sales roles, including a decade at APN Outdoor. Following his exit from the outdoor business, Rose launched his own out of home consultancy.

MCN names new partnerships director
MCN has appointed Daniella Serhan as partnerships director to lead the company's partnerships team and ensure the delivery of strategic campaigns with channel partners and advertisers. Serhan will be leading the team's execution of integrated solutions for brands and building new opportunities across MCN’s global channel partners. She will also be assisting with the deployment of MCN’s out of home assets. Serhan has been with the MCN business since 2016, previously heading up the Network Ten brand and partnerships team working closely with the network, key agency and client partners.

Carat promotes Danni Wright
Carat has promoted its head of strategy in Sydney Danni Wright to the newly created role of national head of strategy, effective immediately. Wright has been with the business in Australia and the UK for more than a decade. She joins the national executive leadership and will deliver against Carat’s proposition of understanding and activating real people to redefine media.

Clemenger BBDO boosts planning department
Clemenger BBDO Melbourne has added two new members to its planning team. Brigitte Bayard joins as planning director while Duncan Bell steps into the role of senior planning. Bayard joins from JWT Melbourne where she was strategy director, and has previously worked on campaigns for Officeworks, the Australian National Preventive Health Agency and Leggo’s. Bell joins the agency from Forward Scout in Sydney, where he spent several years as a brand strategist.

Spinach’s new digital media specialist
Full-service agency Spinach has appointed Mat Beyer to senior digital media specialist. Beyer joins the agency with more than 10 years’ experience in digital marketing and technology working across a range of categories including telco and education. He most recently worked at the Pragmatic Education Group as head of digital marketing and development.

Orchard reveals promotions and hires
Enero Group’s technology and creative agency Orchard has named Mikaela Crimmins as its senior brand and digital consultant. Crimmins returns to the agency after three years with Ogilvy & Mather. Vadim Vichniakov also joins Orchard as CX strategist, previously working at Marcel in Paris. In account service, Adam Washington has been appointed practice lead for consumer, sharing responsibilities with managing partner Andrew Antoniou for Orchard’s consumer clients. Luke Cadman joins as group account director after a stint at Sudler & Hennessey.

Red Agency appoints head of social
Red Agency has named Amaury Treguer as its new executive director of social for Australia. Treguer will lead the next stage of the team’s social operation across its offices in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. He brings 15 years’ experience in marketing and communications, having worked with a number of international brands including Netflix, Sony, Nivea, Expedia, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade and TAL Group. He most recently worked at The Haus as head of social and content.

Smaato expands team
Real-time advertising platform for mobile publishers and app developers Smaato has revealed a number of new appointments. Genelle Hung joins the Smaato Demand team as director of demand business development in APAC. Also joining the demand team is Helene Nguyen in business development, while Lourydie Velasco and Margaret Christany join the Demand Account Management team.
