SYDNEY: The public’s love-in for The Gruen Transfer has continued, with the advertising-themed show grabbing its biggest audience ever in its final episode.
The debut season of The Gruen Transfer has finished with a bang, picking up its highest audience ever with 1.45 million watching last night (30 July).
The ABC show beat its previous best performance, which was last week with a total people audience of 1.386 million.
The Gruen Transfer was the fourth highest rating program last night, and is currently the highest rating ABC show in Sydney this year. In the pitch segment last night, The Glue Society won with this effort, an ad trying to discourage tourists from visiting Australia.
The Gruen Transfer has also been a hit online, and has been already commissioned for a second series.
Seven picked up a hatrick last night with the top three rating programs – Seven News, RSPCA Animal Rescue and Medical Emergency – as it dominated overall. Seven had six of the top 10 shows, securing a network share of 31.7% and number one in 18 to 40-year-olds and 24 to 54-year-olds.
Nine had just one show in the top 10, Two And A Half Men with 1.304 million, and received a network share of 23.3%.
The ABC had a fantastic night, spurred on by The Gruen Transfer and great performances from the likes of Spicks And Specks with 1.373 million and ABC News with 1.253 million. The ABC picked up a network share of 20.6%, pushing Network Ten into third spot.
Ten’s only program in the top 20 was So You Think You Can Dance with 1.026 million, while House picked up just 824,000 viewers. Ten’s share for the night was 19.9%.
