MELBOURNE: Telstra has partnered with the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games as the official telecommunications partner in a continued commitment to the Australian sporting industry.

The partnership grants Telstra use of the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games branding and mascot, signage at Games venues, partner for the Queen’s Baton Relay and swimming events, corporate hospitality, supply of telecommunications services, recognition in Games programs and the status of being the official telecommunications games partner.

Victorian Premier Steve Bracks said Telstra, as the nation’s largest company, with a head office in Melbourne, was a big step in Victoria’s sporting history.

“We look forward to working closely with Telstra over the next 448 days in the countdown to the Games.”

The 2006 Games run from March 15 to 26, 2006, and will involve more than 4500 athletes from 71 nations.
