Yeahpoint hires Bochsler
SYDNEY: Australian digital media company Yeahpoint has begun an expansion into South East Asia, appointing a general manager to head up the new operation. David Bochsler, who was previously working at Microsoft Asia, has been appointed to the GM role and charged with the task of boosting the company’s capability in South East Asia. John Anderson, CEO, Yeahpoint, said the expansion is an important step and comes after advertising sales exceeded targets.

Aussies go SMS crazy
SYDNEY: Over Christmas and New Year, Australians sent a record number of SMS messages, according to worldwide messaging company Acision. Australians sent a total of 97.8 million text messages over the four days of Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's day, 30% more than the same period last year. In the Asia Pacific region, Filipinos went the most SMS crazy, with the nation of 91 million sending a total of 1.44 billion text messages over the four day period.

Cannes opens rego
CANNES: Registrations have opened for delegates for the Cannes International Advertising Festival. The 55th festival will be held in Cannes from 15 to 21 June. Registrations can be made online here.
