Victoria Tzavaras.

In this series, AdNews spotlights young talent in the Australian media, marketing and advertising sector. This time it's Foxtel Media's sales manager Victoria Tzavaras.

Time in current role/time at the company

I’ve been at Foxtel Media for three and-a-half years. I first joined the company as a Digital Account Coordinator working across the Direct and Independent portfolio. Having also gained experience working across Dentsu and PMX, fast forward to today, I have had the privilege for the past year-and-a-half working as a Sales Manager currently across the IPG Mediabrands portfolio.

How long have you been in the industry?

Not only have I been working at Foxtel Media for three and-a-half years, it’s also the same amount of time I’ve been in the media industry for. Foxtel Media was my first full-time job since graduating university in 2021. Throughout my time here, the team have successfully converged to a sales team that sells TV, digital, and social, across the best in entertainment and sport. Having the chance to work across different mediums and sell assets that I have genuine interest in has been a pleasure!

How did you get here? Was this always the plan?

To be honest, I didn’t really know exactly where I was going to end up, all I knew was that I had an interest in Marketing. The timing was great, right after finishing university I found myself in media thanks to my sister Vivienne, who was and is still currently working in the partnerships team here at Foxtel Media. She let me know of a job opening in the digital sales team at the time, and after hearing what she had to say about the role, and the great culture within the company, I decided to apply. From expressing my interest, to conducting interviews, to being offered the role, it took about a week.

Who is your right-hand person/who guides you day to day?

While there are numerous individuals I could call out, for a large period of my time at Foxtel Media, Theresa Rose was my leader, and someone who was a major part of my growth and development over the years. Theresa always had my best interests at heart, always showcasing support and challenging me to get out of my comfort zone. I’m so grateful I still get to work with her daily, knowing I can count on her for anything I need (and crack a joke or two).

What’s the best thing about the industry you work in?

Definitely the people. I’ve always said that every client I’ve met has been lovely. I’ve never had a dull catch-up. It’s been so great experiencing shared moments of collaboration with my clients where genuine partnerships are formed based on trust, knowing our work is contributing to something bigger for brands.

Not everyone can say they have fun whilst also getting their job done, and that they’ve created life-long relationships with special individuals, which has been the case for me. Some of the memories I’ve created have been some of the best I’ve experienced, and ones I continue to look back on and talk about today.

And the biggest challenge?

Campaign measurement is definitely a major challenge in the media industry. With brands expecting more from partners and every marketing dollar getting squeezed, improved measurement solutions are imperative to provide clients data driven recommendations to prove the effectiveness of media investment in delivering better ROI.

I’ve been fortunate enough embark on this journey at Foxtel Media through collaboration with KANTAR, Commbank IQ and Agile to provide game-changing solutions, and it’s been awesome sharing results and research with clients.

Whose job have you set your sights on in the future?

I’ve always admired the work my sister Vivienne performs across partnerships as Group Partnerships Director. Having witnessed numerous bespoke and fun concepts she has created come to life for major brands across multiple touchpoints has been inspirational. So maybe watch out Viv!

Where do you turn for inspiration?

Give me a critically acclaimed series, I’m always in awe of how compelling storytelling and writing can not only entertain, but also challenge perspectives, spark creativity and encourage deeper reflection on the world. I froth a dystopian/mystery/sci-fi series.

Tell us one thing people at work don’t know about you?

Having always topped the class in Greek at high school, and being of Greek background, I can hardly speak the language. I can barely get by if you put me in a room with my grandmother!

In five years' time I'll be:

If I’m happy, healthy and lead a life full of love around me – I don’t mind where I’ll be!
