In this series, AdNews spotlights young talent in the Australian media, marketing and advertising sector. This time it's Sophie Morris, Biddable Coordinator at Assembled Media.
Time in current role/time at the company:
I have been a Biddable Coordinator for 1 year and 3 months now. Previous to this I began my time at Assembled Media through the Assembled Group’s internship program, Assembled Academy.
How long have you been in the industry?
Just over a year now.
How did you get here? Was this always the plan?
Media wasn’t part of the plan initially. I studied Spatial Design at university, but after being referred to the Assembled Academy, I completed a three month internship, spending two of those months with Assembled Media. That experience opened my eyes to the industry, and I’ve been here ever since.
Who is your right-hand person/who guides you day to day?
While the whole digital team plays a big role, I work most closely with AJ, our Head of Digital Activations. AJ has been an incredible manager from day one guiding me through the role, sharing knowledge, and inspiring me with their passion for the industry.
What is the best thing about the industry you work in?
The people. I’m lucky to work with such a supportive and talented team. Beyond that, the digital industry is always evolving, which means there’s endless opportunity for creativity and innovation.
And the biggest challenge?
While building our creator content product in Assembled it’s easy to get swept up in the latest trends or platforms, but not every trend adds value. The real challenge is striking the right balance, knowing when it’s worth tapping into a cultural moment to drive engagement, and when to focus on building campaigns with long-term impact.
Whose job have you set your sights on in the future?
There’s a lot of room for growth at Assembled, and that’s something the team really encourages. I’d love to move into a role where I can combine my creative eye with strategic planning to shape impactful digital campaigns.
Where do you turn for inspiration?
Social media is a huge source of inspiration for me seeing creative campaigns from around the world and staying connected to cultural moments keeps me inspired and informed.

Confidently navigating all aspects of digital media, continuing to grow my career, and hopefully leading innovative campaigns that make an impact.
