Wunderman Thompson has announced the promotion of Nick Muncaster to the role of managing director – Melbourne, following an "extensive" search.

Muncaster replaces Michael Godwin who had been leading the Melbourne agency for 10 years.

Godwin departed the agency to join independent agency Bastion Banjo as CEO of its Melbourne agency.

“We met with many talented and ambitious people in our search, all with a wide range of different experiences and qualifications," Wunderman Thompson ANZ CEO Lee Leggett says.

“The final decision to appoint internally is a real testament to Nick’s strong leadership of our Melbourne team and clients for the past six years, and the amazing job he has done so far.

“For anyone who has worked alongside Nick, you will know for yourself how talented he is. Our Melbourne office is in great hands."

Muncaster is tasked with leading the brand’s vision for the Melbourne office and continuing to build a high performing culture for talent and drive strategic growth for clients.

“I am excited by the opportunity and humbled by the support from our talented team and ambitious clients. Most of all, I’m looking forward to my next chapter within this dynamic industry and business,” Muncaster says.

"I am proud of our continued momentum at Wunderman Thompson and look forward to continuing to inspire growth across our client’s business in 2021."

Muncaster initially began at Wunderman Thompson six years ago as general manager, which led to his previous appointment as partner.

Muncaster’s category experience includes brands within the retail, telco, FMCG, IT, automotive, finance and insurance sectors, as well as extensive partnerships with State and Federal Government.

Prior to his appointment at Wunderman Thompson, he held multiple leadership roles at agencies, including Ogilvy and EuroRSCG (Havas) in Sydney and Melbourne.
