WPP AUNZ appoints new communications duo

WPP AUNZ has appointed Nadia Fidler as PR manager and Laura Backhouse as internal communications manager, reporting to head of communications and marketing  Toby Hemming.

The advertising group started advertising for the roles in February after making redundant two long-term staffers redundant -- Rebecca Tilly and Sandra Renowden -- who shared a communications role working remotely.

Tilly had been with the company 13 years and Renowden almost 10. Their tenure dated to before the merger of STW with WPP in 2016.

New PR manager Nadia Fidler was most recently account director at PR and brand engagement agency CampaignLab. She has previously worked at Pumpkin and Propeller Group, as well as Flagship Consulting in the UK, across a variety of clients, including Google, YouTube, The Festival of Marketing and M&C Saatchi.

Internal communications managerLaura Backhouse joins WPP AUNZ from global pharmaceutical research company Astellas Pharma Australia where she was corporate communications manager. WShe has also worked in communications for Westpac Group and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Backhouse: “I’m thrilled to be joining WPP AUNZ. I was drawn to the company’s commitment to creativity, the many innovative brands and talented individuals within it, and its vision for the future. I can’t wait get to know everyone better in my new role.”

Fidler and Backhouse started this week.
