WPP has appointed Peter Agnefjäll to its board as non-executive director.

Agnefjäll began his career at IKEA as a graduate trainee in 1995, holding a number of senior positions before serving as chief executive officer and president of the IKEA Group from 2013 to 2017.

"As consumer behaviour continues to evolve and our clients' needs grow more complex, Peter's global experience in customer-centric transformation and operational excellence will help support WPP as it executes the priorities of its Elevate28 strategy," said Philip Jansen, chair of WPP.

Agnefjäll is also a member of the Council on Sustainability Transformation, convened by sustainability consultancy ERM, and holds an MSc in Business Administration from Linköping University.

"WPP's strategic integration of its data, technology and creativity expertise will open up new avenues of growth for both its clients and the business, and I look forward to working with Philip and the board in this exciting transformation phase," said Agnefjäll.
