WIN, who officially purchased NBN News from Nine earlier this month, will be cutting 16 roles from the bulletin across Newcastle and northern NSW.

“A meeting was held with all NBN News staff yesterday to announce a new operating restructure that will enable NBN News to deliver dedicated 30-minute local news, sport and weather bulletins each weeknight,” a WIN Corporation spokesperson told AdNews.

The NBN has been broadcast for an hour-long bulletin every weeknight since the early 1970s.

While the restructure impacts some roles, WIN is prioritising redeployment opportunities across the Network and will conduct the process transparently and collaboratively," the spokesperson said.

“The WIN Network has entered a formal consultation period, inviting employee feedback on the proposal by June 15, 2026.

“Out of respect for the consultation process, no further comment will be made at this time.”

Nine sold NBN to Win last month for $14.8 million, with the agreed deal stipulating a further 50% of gross NBN advertising revenue would flow to Nine for five years.

WIN is controlled by Bruce Gordon, who holds close to 22.98% of Nine Entertainment.

Nine purchased NBN news in 2007 for $250M.
