SYDNEY: Top Gear has launched an iPhone app featuring the mysterious racing car driver known only as The Stig.
The “Who is The Stig?” iPhone app encourages fans to take a photograph of themselves, which is then uploaded into a short video that reveals the identity of The Stig as the fan in the photo.
“We know there is so much debate as to who the Stig actually is and we’ve made light of that mystery by creating this fun app,” Paul Owen, digital publisher of topgear.com, said.
“Now Top Gear fans can take photos of anyone and have them appear as the Stig, and they can share these images with their friends too.”
'Who is the Stig?' is now available for $1.19 from the App Store.
In Australia, the Top Gear brand exists in television, print and digital platforms. The Top Gear Australia magazine has a readership of 432,000, and the Top Gear program on Channel 9 has recorded ratings as high as 1.7 million viewers.
The brand is owned by BBC Worldwide.
