Vodafone is on the hunt for a new creative agency, AdNews can reveal.

The incumbent is Publicis’ Saatchi & Saatchi. Thinkerbell has also worked with the brand.

A Vodafone spokesperson confirmed a closed pitch is currently underway.

“We regularly review our agency partnerships to ensure our creative and brand ambitions remain fresh and ready to challenge the status quo,” the spokesperson told AdNews.

“As part of this process, we recently commenced a closed, competitive pitch process to explore new creative opportunities, so we can continue delivering the creative work Vodafone is known and loved for.

“We appreciate the excellent work Saatchi & Saatchi has done, particularly the Gary Network campaign and our Apple new product campaigns, which are held up as some of the best in the world.”

It is not known whether Saatchi & Saatchi has chosen to re-pitch.

Industry insiders say Vodafone is likely to favour an independent agency rather than one backed by a holding company as it reassesses its priorities.

AdNews understands Publicis’ Starcom will remain Vodafone’s media agency.
