Vizeum's Hopman stunt: VIDEO

By AdNews | 21 October 2014

It wasn't a performance from the Blue Man Group or Eiffel 65, it was a media stunt for the Hopman Cup.

If you were in the Perth CBD yesterday earlier this month, you may have been slightly confused about the cohort of blue people running around handing out tennis balls.

But fear not, it was a media stunt pulled off by Vizeum Perth and Fairfax to announce the launch of the Hopman Cup tennis tournament.

50 people in blue morph suits emerged from Perth Arena, the venue for the tournament, to hand out Hopman Cup tennis balls to bemused punters.

A giant tennis ball was also installed in Forrest Chase, a main promenade in Perth.

Aside from raising awareness of the tournament on the streets of Perth, the stunt was also covered by radio station 96fm and Channel Seven.

Vizeum, which started working with the Hopman Cup this year as its media partner, said this was only the first in a series of "many strategic activations" around the tournament in the lead-up to the event.
