Virginia Hyland, the now former CEO of Havas Media Group Australia, has taken her former employer to court.

She has lodged a claim in the Federal Court for breaches of Fair Work provisions.

Details of the claims are not known.

Insiders say Hyland hasn't been at Havas Media since April. The agency is being led in the interim by James Wright, group CEO of Havas Creative.

“Havas Media Australia and Virginia and are actively working toward an amicable and progressive resolution," Havas Media said in a written statement.

"Out of respect for this process and for all involved we won’t be making further comments at this time.”

Court records show Hyland is represented by Sasphire Legal, an employment and industrial law specialist firm.

Havas Media Australia is represented by Williamsonlegal.

Hyland was appointed CEO in 2020 following the Havas' acquisition of her agency, Hyland.

Founded in 2005, Hyland worked with luxury, beauty, travel, B2B and lifestyle brands.
