Virgin Australia's dry cleaning in the air

Virgin Australia has announced a dry cleaning service, Fly Cleaning, to take a load off travellers for April 1.

The world's first dry cleaning service in the sky starts at check-in by dropping off clothes which will be washed and pressed for pickup at the final destination.

Further announcements about the service, created by The Precinct Studios, expected to be announced soon.

To take advantage of the service, which is initially available at Gold Coast Airport under a prototype trial for the month of April, travellers simply need to check-in their laundry at the dedicated Fly Cleaning counter on arrival at Gold Coast Airport.

Fly Cleaning starts from as low as $5 per piece of clothing, with the service available complimentary for guests travelling in Business Class.

Velocity Frequent Flyer members will also receive 50 Velocity Points* per item of clothing Fly Cleaned, helping fast-track their way to their next flight. Virgin Australia Business Flyer members can also double dip, earning Points for each employee who uses the service.

Virgin Australia Group General Manager Product and Customer, Sarah Adam: “I know how stressful it can be arriving home from the airport to mountains of dirty laundry, particularly for young families, so we are thrilled to announce the first-ever Fly Cleaning service.

“We have collaborated with our wonderful partner in Gold Coast Airport, a key airport for holidaymakers, to trial the service this April, before rolling out Fly Cleaning to other major airports around Australia.

“Virgin Australia is synonymous with product innovation and we know Fly Cleaning will be very appealing to travellers not only in Australia, but across the globe,” she said.
