Paul Tyrrell
Paul Tyrrell, chief marketing officer at View Media Group, is among those being made redundant with the closure of the company's real estate digital media and technology services business.
After nine years with view.com.au and three years with ACM, View.com.au’s parent company, Tyrrell's last day was Monday.
In a statement on the closure released by View Media’s board of directors the company forecast redundancies.
“Unfortunately, it is anticipated that a small number of roles in the group will be made redundant as a result of this closure.”
These come in response to the company seeking to reallocate funding.
“To enable immediate profitability, the VMG board has decided to close down View.com.au,” according to the statement.
When asked about his departure from the company, Tyrrell confirmed it was a result of the closure.
"It was a redundancy following the decision to close view.com.au, which was announced last week," said Tyrrell.
The company will be reinvesting efforts into its property media and developer businesses, with all VMG divisional management teams remaining in their current positions.
Co-founder Anthony Catalano last month stepped down as chairman of the View Media Group and of regional publisher ACM as he faces charges of assault, false imprisonment and making threats to kill.
View.com.au will close in June.
