Meal delivery service Uber Eats is helping Australians' tastebuds travel the world in lieu of international travel with its first virtual food festival.

Your Local Food Fest, running from June 18 to 30, celebrates the diversity of cuisines across the country and lifts the lid on the exotic local restaurants behind some of Australia’s favourite dishes.

The Uber Eats app will act as a boarding pass to 13 days of deals on 13 different cuisine types from across the world.

Day one is a ticket to Tokyo with Japanese cuisine remaining one of Australia's favourites to order.

The total length of all the noodles ordered on the Uber Eats app in 2019 was nine-times longer than the distance from Sydney to Tokyo.

To kick off Your Local Food Fest, Uber Eats is offering customers 30% off their order of $20 or more from participating Japanese restaurants.

There are more promotions and offers for every day of the campaign, with Uber Eats picking up the tab on all of them.

Clues will be shared every morning on the dedicated Your Local Food Fest website about each daily deal.

The website also introduces Australians to the chefs and their cuisines.

Thousands of restaurant partners on the Uber Eats platform are taking part, from global names to local favourites.
